Call for papers and save the date: Conservation Matters Annual Christmas Conference

Conservation Matters in Wales December 2017:  Past practice, future practice.

National Museum Wales, Cardiff

Tuesday, December 19th 2017.

Conservation connects past to the future but how do we make this link in our own practice? This one day conference will look back at previous conservation practises, look forward to where we’re going, examine how they are connected and explore where there are opportunities to innovate.
The cross disciplinary conference will be attended by conservators, curators, collection managers and other professionals engaged in the care of collections and we particularly welcome proposals that would be appropriate to this audience. Proposals are welcomed from those inside and outside of Wales.

The Welsh conservation sector has made innovation a response to tight economic frameworks whilst working together to maintain best practice. This is embodied in the recently launched conservation principles and we welcome papers that explore these themes.

Proposals are invited for 20 minute presentations, 5 minute shorts or posters as well as workshops or discussions that explore the conference’s broad theme. The conference hashtag will be #consinwales and we also welcome suggestions for presentations that may be shared virtually.

If you are interested in speaking please send a brief summary of your proposal to Pamela Murray murraypf@cardiff.ac.uk by the 10th of November.
