Conservation Matters in Wales Christmas Meeting 'Doing Things Differently': Call for Papers

Call Papers and Save the date;

Conservation Matters in Wales: Doing things differently
National Museum Cardiff, Tuesday 13th December
A Free one day conference organised by Amguedda Cymru: National Museum
Wales, The Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales and
Cardiff University.

We would like to invite speakers to respond to a call for papers on the theme “Doing Things Differently”. Ideas for workshops or panel discussions are also welcomed.
Heritage and conservation is changing and this conference will celebrate conservators who do things differently.

We are interested in exploring the following themes:
  • Skills and techniques: How has your conservation practice developed or evolved? Are you using you’re conservation skills in unexpected places or different ways? Have you created a new treatment, innovated a new approach or lead improvements? How are you working with new technology?
  • Who pays for conservation?: Has the funding for your work changed? Are you responding to increasing commercial use of a heritage asset you are responsible for? Are grant funders asking you do things differently?
  • People and Partners: Have you changed the way you work with others? Has the role of volunteers changed? Are you forming new partnerships to facilitate greater collections access? Does conservation have a different place in your community?
Proposals are welcomed from those inside and outside of Wales.

If you are interested in speaking please send a brief outline to

Megan de Silva

Deadline for submissions: Monday 14th November 2016.
